We present a new issue of Journal of Healthcare Quality Research (JHQR) covering the months of September and October 2026.
The editorial, signed by F. Cava-Valenciano, explores the role of laboratory medicine as a strategic driver of value in healthcare.
The original articles section includes studies on in situ simulation of multidisciplinary teams in a pediatric intensive care unit, incorporating the patient’s voice in university podiatry, and variability in medical decision-making for critically ill patients during the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. It also features studies on the assessment of health outcomes for benchmarking among Spanish hospitals, the impact of a laboratory-led computerized system to improve the appropriateness of diagnostic testing in primary care, and an initiative to optimize the management of alerts and transmission-based precautions in the electronic health record.
Finally, the scientific letter reflects on the relationship between people and technology in AI-mediated neurohealthcare. In addition, the special section on Patient Safety presents a study on sex differences in immersive safety training for informal caregivers in home-based care.
